ur Interviewer climbs up to the Alliance of the Eclipse facade for our meeting with Erasmus. There she meets with Nziri and the two talk for a short time before Erasmus arrives. Upon his arrival, Calysto sits on a step and balances this notepad on her knee, transcribing this story. After a warm welcome, he starts.
"Solister was having quite a bout between the order and chaos deep within himself...
As I remember, it was almost as if he was splitting in two.
This being, Trok'ter, seemed to be the ... being ... that was formed from the chaos within him. For quite awhile, he couldn't stand to be called Solister, only Sol.
It was assumed that Sol had some meaning of Order, and Trok having some meaing of chaos.
"Well, Sol, as he was during this time, ran around trying to put an end to all chaos. Anything chaotic he seemed drawn to destroy. His condition worsened as the days passed...
Until one day, if my memory serves me well, his avatar shattered, blending his soul with the dream itself, within the Rings of Woe. Up until this time, he still had the ability to evoke his arts, but unfortunately, with every art came a decrease in his avatar's strength.
Even when others tried to help by evoking certain beneficial arts on him, it still seemed to weaken him. After the incident within the Rings, he lost his ability to evoke arts, hold talismans, and basically became a quasi-real being... A being of pure Insight.
"This sounds nice to some...
"To be so pure.
"But... He couldn't speak to anyone, not unless they were true of mind.
They must have been the epitome of a dreamseer, only those that used their minds to see, and not their eyes were able to sense and see him. And even then, some couldn't communicate with him.
It was as if he was but a being of memory; nothing of the present, only the past.
He could even place memories within your own mind, sometimes even memories that weren't your own.
It was a truly remarkable thing.
"But, as much as we marveled at his... power, he was becoming more and more irritated with the fact that so few could see and hear him, and vice versa.
I, and a few others who were able to communicate with him, promised to teach others, and spread the knowledge around. The more that could benefit from his experiences the better, obviously.
So, we went on a quest to teach others to close their eyes, and open their minds, using their imaginations to see him, sending their thoughts through the wind to speak to him.
"Solister was practically invisible; he was part of the dream itself. Should you try and look at him, the best you'd see of him would be a swirl of wind picking up the dust covering
the ground... those that could see him only saw an upper torso, until we figured out that we could invision him as we last remembered him. Thus, we were able to see him as he once appeared to us.
"Unfortunately, only a few were able to comprehend, and able to undertake such a feat, so few were able to see without seeing. Solister became lonely, unless, of course, Nziri were there to comfort him and make him feel noticed and wanted.
But he came to me, one afternoon, and he asked me, he asked me if there was anything I could do to help him.
"I was taken aback by the question, thinking: Solister has never asked Me for help before. So I took it as a personal quest to help him. I took all the knowledge I had gained from him, and my various experiences with him, and started to devise a way to allow Solister to mold the Visions of others into a tangible object. One that could be seen and touched.
And even react as he wished it to react. But, after a few experiments, I came to notice that a simple vision disappeared after only a few seconds.
"So, I tried various other experiments, using the Cones of Power. I spent many nights in there... concentrating as much insight as I could into the cones until I made a startling discovery: The Cones actually held me insight for a limited amount of time. And from that point on, I experimented with ways to purify my insight, ways for him to shape and mold my insight into whatever he wanted me to see, and a few other minor things, including using pure silence as a means for him to send sounds along with this Insight.
"At this point I realized that I, alone, didn't have enough Insight to store for any length of time... nor was it nearly enough for him to mold into a form for countless others to see.
So, that's when I called upon the help of as many others as were willing to help to store their energies within the Cones. The various energies stored helped create the visions,
purify the visions, make him able to mold them, and even make it so that these thoughts wouldn't invade the minds of others, causing his flow of pure Insight into the minds of
those trying to see him. That, for the most part, was the basis around the experiment, as I remember it.
"As far as specifics on the experiment; Vision was used to concentrate our insight into the cones, Purify was used to purify it, Free Action was used to make the visions maliable for Solister, deafen was used to create the purest silence, and mind blank was used to block the visions from invading the thoughts of others.
"Which brings us to, well, to as close to the recent past as possible."
