"The house originally started with evil motives. It was to be run by Yog-ka with Sabriana, Aurora, Hemphop, Smoke, Hellseer and a few others ruling it. Its preface was that they acknowledged that the mare essences contained an inert power in them and that by using their prime they were able to extract its power, and then by draining the prime they were able to use that power for their own benefits. However, Caladar saw this from the rifts of time and chaos, and returned to set the Order on a path he felt was more befitting. Taking prima nocta, he made the basis for the current beliefs. "Because of Yog-ka's influence the ruler areas are twice the size of the rest of the house, as it was meant to be a sort of dictatorship. With Caladar taking prima nocta, most of those were not allowed into the order." What is prima nocta? "prima nocta is in the ancient tounge, meaning First Rights. And it is the right of the first ruler from the chaos after the great loss to change the beliefs of a house to whatever he/she feels necesary. So only Hemphop, and Hellseer were able to convert their ideas and joined the New order the starting members were Roland, Amygdala, Snowblind, Hellseer, Regicide, Peace, The.nomad, Hemphop, Domination... that's all I remember right now. "Most people assumed they were evil and thats because they studied the mares, most assumed they had a deal with the mares." That probably has to do with the mystique of the Moon too. "We were very secretive back then, didn't give tours, didn't share knowledge. When I joined the dream, no one even knew about them. Dreamers of Light and House Calenture told me there were two open houses." It's interesting that you were secretive... Early on in my dream, I remember you sharing Marespeak with Ashbentiel and Druss. "Ahh marespeak, that was mine. Not many know it, but I started and completed the marespeak translations, which are the basis of all maren today. I used early research from the Shadowprophet, but I did the translations with a team of linguists and analysts. Our Interviewer apologises and gets back onto topic. "The first major house event was Hemphop's Betrayal, as we call it. Hemphop felt confined by the house, and wished to perform actions that didn't go back on the house, like attacking HC (he was a good fighter). So of course they came to us, etc.. So in a famous speech well for me at least, that I'll remember always he is quoted as saying "I can't be in the house 100% of the time, maybe 80, maybe 90, but not 100%." And he was demoted the next week. Now he's refered to as Hemphop the Oath Breaker, as he was the first in the order to break his sworn oath." So he didn't actually knight people and try to secretly take over the order? Our Interviewer tries to stifle a grin. "There were no guardians then. A month later, Snowblind Amy and Rols were made Knight Templars, then 3 weeks later sworn in as Knights. "At one point we thought Snowblind had died. If you can name any dreamer who you respect, who you know was a ruler, or guardian, or freespirit was there. Isun, ishido, tolket, Valourin, Wraith, Watcher, Darkel, Manido, Ariana, Krynn, it was a sad day in the dream. Worst thing for me was telling Manido, his best friend 'I think Snow has died.'" |
