PRELATE

by Mystakalah

"The Children have Awakened. The Essence Nodes are the Key. We must have as many of them as possible. If, only we can get the dreamers to help us, then we may help them All. Give to the young to strengthen the Old."

Prelate, seldom direct, nor one to explain much of his actions, only speaking in Cryptic form, spoke his vision to our City. Prelate further explains, "...this Path was shown to me whilst meditating upon my thoughts of helping Dreamers...healing what I have allowed to happen."

After being informed of the essence nodes of the Alliance of the Eclipse, Prelate asking for the nodes believing they are the source of power needed, rationalizes to the Alliance, "I have only spoken honestly, of what I have been Shown. I do not know the ending to this Path. It does grow clearer...but...the end is not completely clear." "Give to the young to Strengthen the Old...that is the Open book I present to you...." "A wise friend of mine, Tukalis, once told me...and I shall never forget...that you always find greatness by striving...but to find transcendence...you must give to the Unknown...take that step over the yawning Void...I have never forgot it, by the One."

No major details forthcoming and working with Smith Falinor, Prelate accounts to the City that the intent of his request is to help goodness, the dreamers and our City. The Alliance of the Eclipse aided by offering their essence nodes, made from items Prelate offered and volunteers carried, in the interest of the good of the City.

Today, the newly awakened have a way to strengthen and to reward the Old as well.

Iden's Experiment Backfires, Twins Become One

by Golah

April 1, Year of Turmoil. They entered the city much like anyone else has and seemed new yet aged and a bit worn for wear. They seemed to be able to understand one another without even speaking. Odd as it was they often finished each other's sentences.

They were mentored by the city's best to regain their former teaching status and have thus come a long way to regaining that which was once theirs already.

In another area there was also Iden. A deranged former Cache caretaker and follower of Prelate who started off on his own misguided expeirements, but before we can know Iden perhaps we should start from the beginning.

Iden started the gatekeeper hunts where gatekeepers of the city were hunted for their heads. Iden, working for Prelate at the time, used the heads in some experiment to make permanent wards on three of the five newly discovered Cache's in the city. Iden has been attacked and collapsed many times and yet he grows stronger much like the darkmares. Many ideas have been suggested yet none are being tried as of yet, although Myridian Sun's Radiance does seem to have negated Iden's full power perhaps his faith or the power of the light is a weapon Iden can not protect himself from.

A few days ago Iden made an appearence in the Library of Souls with two Darkmares, Xatoc and Noginus, assisting him. They attacked dreamers relentlessly who were very much ill prepared for this encounter in the Library, the place of study.

This gathering had been called by Xerom and Qyadia and Qyacia to discuss the arts of Support Train and Support Sphere. However that forum quickly dispersed. The dreamers regrouped and led an assult on the mares which oddly enough led to the Ceremonial Hall in Threshhold Caves. The sisters were on the other side of the cayon where few dreamers could reach to help them. The sisters stood on the alter with Iden on their left and the mares to their right, seemingly awaiting their fate.

The Sisters claim they felt his presence with them and the mares as well before they lost consciousness. When they awoke the mares were gone yet Iden was still present. Iden claimed he suceeded yet seemed displeased with the outcome. The sisters then screamed and vanished from sight only to reappear as the dreamer we know now as Qyadicia. Iden seemed disappointed but not terribly annoyed by the outcome.

Eventually, this escapade moved to the Trinities, where Myridian Sun was able to use the power of the Radiance to end Iden's threat for the night. Alas, the real damage had already ben done.

Now as Iden's appearences become more and more common, he pays visits to Qyadicia frequently. It appears he is trying to assume her avator, but the sisters are strong and are fighting back. Iden is able take control for short durations but shortly thereafter some unseen force seems to cause him pain and he vanishes once again.

This reporter is left with many questions and few answers. Iden is clearly not finished with the sisters. His true purpose is still unclear. Beware Dreamers, and be safe!

Iden recalls Kabal assassin.

by Valourin

Tuesday April 18, Year of Turmoil.

It seems that Iden is not done with the twins, now trapped in one avatar by his deeds, and has called back a servant of the Kabal from before the Loss to aid him. This Dreamer's name is Khalid and according to Brosh he was a "deadly assassin...from my time." She went on to say that he was rumored to be relentless and did not care about being collapsed in the interest of achieving his goals.

Just what are those goals, however? It has been widely assumed they deal with Qyadicia, perhaps though that is just what we are meant to believe. What is known is that he has attacked her on some occasions, though usually he seems to target her protectors. It could be that he is trying to discourage her protectors, or perhaps make the quiet Elder send them away for their own protection, we may not know unless someone Khalid trusts tells us. Prefering to use stealth and attacking unwary opponents and run when the battle is pitched against him, Khalid is definately of a different sort than todays would be assassins. This makes him a threat no matter the goals of he and his master, in this reporters opinion.

Other noteworthy information about Khalid is his seeming penchant for cruelty. Fotowca, Ruler of the Radiance, was first to mention that he had recovered from Khalid a female dreamer essence whose features were frozen in terror, that was a source of insight for the assassin. It had been rumored that these were not talismen at all but instead were really essences from tortured victims. Myridian Sun, another Ruler of the Radiance, said that in speaking to Khalid he was told that they were indeed from tortured females. He seems to use only poison chaks, and rumor is that he recieves these directly from his master.

Link to the Past: The Citadel.

by Valourin

Something happened in Chasm of Souls on Sunday the 17th of September, Year of Potential, in the Fiery Path. Now as you come in a lone portal can be seen across the lava on the left hand side. This portal leads to what must be part of the oldest structure in the Dream, The Citadel.

The Citadel was built after the Hall of Voices was, and was used to draw those that achieved the awakening to the City of Underlight. After that Threshold was built around it to protect it. There is speculation among some that it was much more than that, though no one knows for sure. One thing that seems for certain is that it was more than these 5 rooms, as the name implies an indoor structure as well as the mostly outdoors scenery of the first five to be recovered.

Any new plane is interesting, or old plane recovered in this case, but the incredibly interesting part of this plane is a structure that sits upon it. Temple like on the outside, it is a shrine to Gerriel Endeth on the inside, with a sculpture that appears to truly be a living soulsphere. I have heard standing before it has an effect of increasing the amount of Dreamsoul that you recover in a certain amount of time.

One word of caution, the lava outside of the entrace, in Chasm of Souls, is not detrimental to Dreamers that walk upon it. So do not spend more time there than you must or you may find yourself in need of a Sanctuary to restore your coherence.

Prelate wards Library portals, Elemental plates disappear.

by Mystakalah

here was an uproar in the Library of Souls this eve as dreamers found the portals of the library's sphere halls locked to most everyone.

At the center of all this bustle was the Kabal's very own leader, Prelate.

Dreamers surrounded Prelate demanding answers as to why he unrightfully locked yet another portion of our City's areas. Prelate stood calmly as enraged dreamers surrounded and haggled him to remove these 'special' wards.

Throughout the fiasco, Prelate insinuated the reason he locked the portals was because dreamers were not visiting the library to study what was behind the portals, therefore they didnt need them. This reporter would tend to agree, but it still does not give him the right to shut them off to all others.

These wards were not the normal wards, nor were they the special kind of ward the Kabal has already used on three of the caches of the city. These wards seemed to resemble that of the Order of the Sable Moon's initiate ID. GuardDog, former guardian of the Sable Moon and still faithful follower, stepped up to inform everyone present that the Order was not involved in this incident, and did not condone the use of their house IDs whatsoever.

When asked how to remove the wards, or when they would fall, Prelate fell back on his favorite phrase, "Have Faith, and you will find the way." Well as it turns out, only dreamseers of the fifth sphere have the 'faith' for though these 'special' wards were unshatterable, they were blendable.

Amidst all the chaos, Prelate snuck out and woke for the eve, leaving the wards intact. Dreamers were peturbed to say the least.

In further news on this event, the 'special' wards seemed to finally fall. Dreamers were elated to return to the library to find the 'wards' gone the next day, but much shock arose when dreamers realized the elemental plates had vanished as well. Murmurs among the dreamers wondering if the disappearance of the plates is connected to the falling of the wards. Was this what Prelate meant by 'faith'? Or was it just another fancy parlor trick of his? Only further study will tell.
